Start at the Fontane dei mostri marini (Sea Monster Fountains), continue to the Quattro Mori (Four Moors) in front of the Darsena Vecchia, and enter the Venezia district: canals that the people of Livorno call ‘fossi’, bridges such as the one of San Giovanni Nepomuceno, and old merchants’ palaces. The walk links the Fortezza Vecchia, on the Porto Mediceo, with the Fortezza Nuova, which today is also a public park. On the scali delle Pietre you will find the mural ‘Fiori di glicine’ by Ligama. Opening times for the inside of the Fortezza Vecchia, and whether it is open, are not verified here. The Comune indicates access for people with disabilities from the Corridoio gallerie, with a lift. At the Fortezza Nuova the Comune indicates a ramp from the garden and raised paths suitable for wheelchairs. The time shown is a suggestion for walking and making stops, not a route calculation. With an orange alert the Comune may close parks and some facilities, as it did with the order of 7 October 2026: check the Comune’s news before going out.

A short walk in the centre, along the Fosso Reale. Start at the monument to Guerrazzi and reach the Mercato delle Vettovaglie (Provisions Market): opened in 1894, it overlooks the Medici canals. Then you pass the places marked as the birthplaces of Giovanni Fattori and Pietro Mascagni and arrive in piazza Cavour. The Comune indicates the ones from via del Cardinale, via Del Testa and scali Saffi as the barrier-free entrances to the Mercato. The Mercato’s opening times are not verified here. The birthplaces are marked on the map by OpenStreetMap: it is not certain that you can visit them inside. The time shown is a suggestion for walking and making stops, not a route calculation.

Start at Parco Pertini, which the people of Livorno call the ‘Parterre’, and go on to the mural ‘Olimpiadi di mare’ on viale Carducci. Continue towards piazza della Repubblica, the ‘Voltone’, with the statues of Ferdinando III and Leopoldo II, and finish at the monument to Giovanni Fattori. From this area you can continue towards the centre or the Venezia district. The walk and the suggested time begin at the Parterre. If you arrive by train, the transfer from the station to the first stop should be considered separately. If you do not want to walk, AT lists urban lines that leave from the Stazione C.le and pass by Carducci, such as the 1: check timetables and notices before boarding. The Comune indicates the entrance to the Parterre from viale Carducci, opposite the cycle path and the bus stop, and declares it accessible also to people with reduced mobility. It closes in the evening at a time that changes with the season. The time shown is a suggestion for walking and making stops, not a route calculation. With an orange alert the Comune may close parks and some facilities, as it did with the order of 7 October 2026: check the Comune’s news before going out.

According to Visit Livorno, the lungomare (seafront) is the longest seaside promenade in Tuscany. This stretch goes from the Terrazza Mascagni, the viewpoint with its black-and-white chequered floor, to piazza San Jacopo in Acquaviva with the statue of Pietro Leopoldo. It then runs along the Accademia Navale and arrives at the Rotonda di Ardenza, a pinewood of pines and holm oaks facing the sea. This is the longest walk: you can stop earlier or return by bus. AT lists lines that pass by viale Italia and Ardenza Mare. With libeccio (the south-westerly wind) and sea storms, keep away from the rocks and the edge. The Comune indicates ramps at the two ends of the Terrazza (the Pancaldi side and the Acquario side) and declares the Rotonda accessible also to people with reduced mobility. The time shown is a suggestion for walking and making stops, not a route calculation. With an orange alert the Comune may close parks and some facilities, as it did with the order of 7 October 2026: check the Comune’s news before going out.

A walk in the greenery, away from the sea. Villa Corridi, also called the ‘parco di Collinaia’, is according to the Comune the largest public park in Livorno: lawns, holm oaks, Aleppo pines and palms around the old villa of the Corridi family. From there you continue towards the parks of Villa Morazzana and Villa Maurogordato. The stops are far from the centre: you get there by bus or by car. AT lists, for example, line 16 Leccia – Collinaia – Ardenza Terra. Between one park and the next you walk on neighbourhood streets: pavements and slopes are not verified. The Comune declares Villa Corridi accessible also to people with reduced mobility. For the other two parks we have no information on access and opening times. The time shown is a suggestion for walking and making stops, not a route calculation. With an orange alert the Comune may close parks and some facilities, as it did with the order of 7 October 2026: check the Comune’s news before going out.

Start at the monument to Leonetto Cappiello and go on to the park of Villa Fabbricotti. Then continue towards the park of Villa Mimbelli, the complex that houses the Museo civico Giovanni Fattori. The stops on the walk are the monument and the two parks; any museum visits are organised separately. The markers for Villa Fabbricotti and Villa Mimbelli show the areas of the parks, not museum entrances. If you want to add a visit to the Museo Fattori or the Museo di storia naturale, check their respective sources for entrance, opening times and tickets. The time shown is a suggestion for the stops and for getting between them, not a navigation calculation.

A suggestion with stops for playing and reading: from the Statua di Snoopy to the playground of Villa Fabbricotti and the Biblioteca dei ragazzi (children’s library), then to the playground next to the ludoteca (toy library) at Villa Mimbelli and to the one near the Terrazza Mascagni. Next to the Terrazza is the Acquario di Livorno, which is not a stop on the walk. The stop at Mimbelli is about the playground marked on the map, not the entrance to the ludoteca La Serra Incantata. Any access to the ludoteca has to be arranged through the municipal service. The playgrounds come from OpenStreetMap: we have not verified their condition. The parks close in the evening, at a time that changes with the season. Opening times and tickets for the Acquario are not verified here. The time shown is a suggestion for walking and making stops, not a route calculation. At the top of Montenero, on the square of the Santuario della Madonna delle Grazie, stands the Famedio: a loggia of nine arches built to shelter pilgrims, which in the nineteenth century became the burial place of illustrious people of Livorno. Here there are also the inscriptions commemorating Pietro Mascagni, Amedeo Modigliani and Dario Niccodemi. A few steps away the map marks a viewpoint: according to Visit Livorno, from Montenero the view takes in the coast as far as a glimpse of the islands of the Arcipelago Toscano (Tuscan Archipelago). Montenero is outside the centre. The Comune indicates bus 2 from the station to piazza delle Carrozze, then the funicolare (funicular); AT says the urban ticket is also valid on the funicular. The funicular timetable is not verified here. The Santuario is reached by a flight of steps; the Comune indicates a ramp for people with disabilities. The Santuario website indicated by the Comune opened an unrelated page at the time of reading: we have no verified source for visiting hours. The Santuario is a place of worship: respect any services in progress. The time shown is a suggestion for walking and making stops, not a route calculation.
