Montenero: the Famedio and the view
At the top of Montenero, on the square of the Santuario della Madonna delle Grazie, stands the Famedio: a loggia of nine arches built to shelter pilgrims, which in the nineteenth century became the burial place of illustrious people of Livorno. Here there are also the inscriptions commemorating Pietro Mascagni, Amedeo Modigliani and Dario Niccodemi. A few steps away the map marks a viewpoint: according to Visit Livorno, from Montenero the view takes in the coast as far as a glimpse of the islands of the Arcipelago Toscano (Tuscan Archipelago).
